I saw this from standing room on a whim, and I'll admit there was an understudy in for Frankie Vallie's role which had me bummed...but I was extremely and pleasantly surprised.
This is by far one of the top 5 musicals I have seen to date, and I have seen most! Wicked and Les Mis still still ahead of it, but the music in this show really really engages you. And the talent is phenomenal.
The one scene with most of the profanity it didn't bother me but I do see how some are offended by it (it was a little overdone...at least 1 full minute of straight profanity). But it shouldn't make people walk out or hate this amazing show.
I highly recommend you see this. One thing I will say...the theatre, while beautiful, sucks. Over half of the sets in the orchestra are under the balcony which sticks out way too far and limits the view. A few scenes take place on the upper level of the stage, which is set way to high for this limited theatre.
I will definitely see this again because I want to see it with Josh as Frankie, but again definitely one of the best and I am still singing the songs!

I just got back from seeing this show with a friend and our parents at the State Theater in Cleveland. I went expecting to see a good show but i was not expecting the FABULOUS show in turned out to be! The set was fabulous and the acting, singing, everything was amazing! Yes there was lots of swearing but you get used to it very quickly and it actually makes the acting more believable. Plus, i'm 16, and in High school.. i hear it all everyday anyways. We sat in the middle mezzanine and the view was great, even though i brought my binoculars to help out.
When they started singing Sherry Baby the entire audience started cheering, and by the end of the show everyone was on their feet.

Great great show! My favorite right now on broadway! great acting, story, and music! what else can you ask for? i noticed some people complained about the profanities by being in my twenties and growing up with sopranos and hip-hop i didn't even notice the use of profanities. come on people, it is a story about blue collar italian-american boys from new jersey. a dose of profanities is kind of expected.

Just saw this in NYC on a Wed. afternoon. I've seen many Broadway shows and this is absolutely one of the best. I think I got lucky because I got great seats (8th row off the aisle) only a month before and that added to how wonderful this show is. Yes, at time the language is crude so I would not bring my 12 yr old daughter to see this one but I definitely want to see it again, this time with my mom. This is Broadway at its best !!! Interestingly, as per the Playbill, there is one Frankie Valli on Wed and Sat afternoons, and another one the other days. I can't imagine the Sat night "Frankie" being any better than the one we saw on Wed. The only downside is because of its popularity, I have to pay full price again.

After I saw the Boys in Seattle last night with friends, I scrambled for, and found, the last single ticket available for the rest of the run here so I can go again tomorrow night. If you were a teen-ager in the 60s you'll go out of your mind with the performances, the music, the production. You'll be transported. It will get your juices flowing and your body moving (how the Seattle audience stayed in their seats I do not know). And Puleeeeze get over yourselves about the profanity. I'm a 61 year-old grandmother, and while the much objected to efffword is not part of my conversational lexicon, I pretty much stopped hearing it after the first few uses since the production was so terrific. So leave the kids at home, remember how many ways we found to offend our elders when we were teens, and be offended by poverty or war, not words. This show is a rare experience!
